Perhaps this was an attempt to be more inclusive with size in the garment business in general, but the vocabulary and slang fell so far short that we can’t even appreciate it.
54. Van Heusen (1960s)
Van Heusen thought that selling ties required a lady on her knees serving her spouse in a marketing effort that appears to have little to do with the offensive input it gives.
55. Apple Computers (the 1980s)
Though the prices of Apple computers haven’t changed much since the 1980s, this advertisement shows how far they’ve come since then. It’s amazing where technology has brought us, from a brick-like mouse to a whole system that took up an entire desk.
56. Baby Soft (the 1970s)
This advertisement is terrible on so many levels for so many reasons, the most obvious of which is that it sexualizes a child. We can only hope that this did not sit on the shelf for too long.
