Tiffany’s parents divorced when she was still a child
Marla Maples raised Tiffany Trump as a single mother after she and Donald Trump separated following four years of marriage, finalizing their divorce in 1999. Maples has stated that she was the main caregiver in Tiffany’s life. In an April 2016 interview with People, she said, “Her daddy was a good provider when it came to education and other things, but as for time, it was just me. Her father couldn’t be there for the day-to-day parenting.”
While Tiffany was growing up, Marla Maples prioritized raising her daughter, and they developed a very close relationship. In a 2016 interview with People, Tiffany reminisced about her mom, saying, “Growing up in California, we were always together. She’d drive me to school, we’d carpool, sing songs, dance around, and I’d tease her about her dance moves.”
Tiffany shared with People that her mom moved them from New York to escape the media spotlight. She told the outlet, “She wanted me to have a chance at a normal childhood, as normal as possible. I think she did a great job at that.”
She admired her older sister, Ivanka Trump
Tiffany Trump has looked up to her sister Ivanka Trump since she was young. Tiffany has referred to Ivanka as her “best friend” and even shared a photo of them together on Instagram with a birthday message. She posted, “Wishing my big sister and best friend a happy birthday… I love you so much! @ivankatrump.”
The strong bond between the sisters is mutual. In a 2016 interview with People, Ivanka said, “She’s my little sister! I’ve been close to Tiffany her whole life, and I really love her.” The Daily Mail also reported that Ivanka helped Tiffany secure an internship with Vogue during her college years.
However, Donald Trump’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen shared a different perspective on the relationship between the Trump sisters in his book “Disloyal: A Memoir.” Cohen alleged that Ivanka joined the family’s “casual cruelty” towards Tiffany, suggesting that she was unkind to her younger sister to maintain her status as the favorite child. The Mercury News reported on Cohen’s claims, stating that Ivanka “jealously guarded her position as Trump’s favorite and surrogate, even at the expense of her vulnerable younger sister.”
