She’s one of Woods’ “best friends”
In a 2015 interview with TIME, Woods mentioned that he spoke openly and honestly to their children about the reasons for his and Nordegren’s divorce. “I’ve taken the initiative with the kids and told them upfront, ‘Guys, the reason why we’re not in the same house, why we don’t live under the same roof, Mommy and Daddy, is because Daddy made some mistakes,'” he told the outlet.
Woods also spoke warmly of his ex-wife. “She’s one of my best friends. We can pick up the phone and talk to each other all the time,” he said five years after their split. “We both recognize that our kids are the most important things in our lives. I wish I had understood that back then.” Woods continued, saying, “She talks to me about her life, I talk to her about my life. We try to support each other in every way. We’ve established a parenting program and work through it with the kids. She is one of my closest friends now, and it’s all because of my kids. We’ve put a lot of effort into co-parenting.”
She has “no interest” in Woods’ personal life
In October 2022, Woods’ former girlfriend Erica Herman filed a lawsuit against the pro golfer, alleging he owed her $30 million. The lawsuit made headlines again in March 2023 when Herman filed a separate lawsuit related to a non-disclosure agreement she signed in August 2017. A source later informed PEOPLE that Nordegren has “no interest” in Woods’ personal life or the lawsuits.
“This aspect of Tiger’s life is not her concern,” the insider said. “Of course, she needs to be very sure that the children are safe and happy around anyone Tiger is involved with, particularly if the relationship becomes serious. In that regard, she is very attentive. But beyond that, not so much.”
