Joe Biden's Response to Harry and Meghan's Request

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in the United Kingdom engaged in charitable work when Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8 last year.

The couple decided to stay in the country until her funeral on September 19. Amidst the ceremonies honoring Britain’s longest-serving monarch, the Sussexes’ team reached out to the White House with an unusual request:

they inquired whether they could return to the United States with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, who were also attending the funeral.

According to sources, First Lady Jill Biden had also been considering attending the 2022 Invictus Games. Both Jill and Joe Biden had previously attended the Games, with appearances in 2017 in Canada and in 2016 in Florida. However, British officials reportedly advised against her visit, suggesting that it might not be well-received by Buckingham Palace.
